This biography chronicles the life of Cardinal George Pell, from his Australian childhood to his role as Vatican treasurer, his wrongful imprisonment and exoneration, and his passing in 2023.

A gifted athlete and intellectual, Pell chose the priesthood over a football career, was ordained in 1966, and earned a doctorate from Oxford.  He held key roles as a priest, university leader, seminary rector, and Archbishop of Melbourne and Sydney before becoming a cardinal in 2003 and Vatican finance chief in 2014.  His legacy includes rebuilding Church precincts, revitalising seminaries, founding universities, and leading World Youth Day 2008.  A prolific writer, he addressed Church corruption and financial reform, facing fierce opposition.

Wrongfully imprisoned for over a year, he maintained his dignity and faith, leaving a lasting impact on the Church.
